COVER REVEALMENT: SWORD OF SUMMER by RICK RIORDAN

"Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother’s mysterious death, he’s lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits, keeping one step ahead of the police and the truant officers.

One day, he’s tracked down by a man he’s never met—a man his mother claimed was dangerous. The man tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god.

The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday. To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.
When an attack by fire giants forces him to choose between his own safety and the lives of hundreds of innocents, Magnus makes a fatal decision.

Sometimes, the only way to start a new life is to die . . ."

The waiting has come to and end!
Finally, the Cover for Sword of Summer, the first book in the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan has been revealed!
After writing the 'Percy Jackson', 'Heroes of Olympus' and the 'Kane Chronicles' series where he brought a new twist on greek, roman and egypt mythology his new book series focuses on norse mythology.
The Goodreads Synopsis sounds like it's going to be an kick-ass adventure with an new amazing protagonist and I can't wait for this book to come out on the 6th of October.

Also, the name Chase is not an unknown one in the Rick Riordan universe..

REVIEW: “DELIRIUM TRILOGY” BY LAUREN OLIVER

"Ninety-five days, and then I’ll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It’s hard to be patient. It’s hard not to be afraid while I’m still uncured, though so far the deliria hasn’t touched me yet. Still, I worry. They say that in the old days, love drove people to madness. The deadliest of all deadly things: It kills you both when you have it and when you don’t."

The books take place in a dystopian city where the government spreads the word that love is a disease. When you turn 18 you get a surgery which cures you from the disease and afterwards you get paired with your future husband or wife.
The story is about 17-year-old Lena Haloway who lives with her aunt, uncle and cousins because her parents both died.
She can’t wait to be cured because her mother is assumed to have killed herself due to her “illness”.
Per coincidence Lena met a boy named Alex who seems to be cured. They become friends but soon they discover feelings for each other. Lena is scared at the beginning but learning more and more about the “disease” she discovers that not everything is as it seems..
I know that a lot of people are huge fans of the trilogy but I have to say that I sadly didn't like it. At all.
The books started slow, in my opinion and Lena annoyed me so much. I thought of her as whiny, easily influenced and not capable of doing anything by herself. 99.9% of my thoughts during this book were 'girl, get over yourself'
I kind of liked the third book but just because the point of views changed between her and her friend Hana.
I liked the idea of turning love into a plague because it is one of the most human needs and to take it away seems anxious because who can imagine a world without love?
I'm happy for you if you enjoyed the story but those books were just not my cup of tea.
“Delirium” was also in discussion of becoming a TV show but got canceled.
Would you have watched it?
Did you like the choice about the cast? (If you do not know who would have been casted you can have a look here)
They also released 6 minutes of footage from the “Delirium” Pilot, you can watch it here, what is your opinion about it?

Let me know!

I'd rate this serie 2/5 stars!

Lots of love

WELCOME EVERYONE!

Hello everybody and a huge shout out to all you book enthusiasts out there!
My name is Francesca and I’m a 18 year old book lover. I love reading them, talking about them, writing about them, smelling them, touching them,.. and everything else you can do with books!
I annoy everybody cause I never shut up about them. But that’s fine with me cause I know what they miss.
A few weeks ago I got my 1000th book for my collection. It’s “An Ember In The Ashes” by Sabaa Tahir and I can’t wait to start it!
I wanted to create a book blog for such a long time but sadly never found the time but now I’m using this occasion to finally make one.
I just want to share my passion with you, guys and would love to hear about your opinion.
Like the quote by George R. R. Martin says: “a reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, the man who never reads lives only one” so let’s live a thousand lives together because one is just boring ;)

Thank you for reading and welcome to my little book world. I hope you’ll enjoy it :)

REVIEW: “THE COLDEST GIRL IN COLDTOWN” BY HOLLY BLACK

"Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself."

The book has a very interesting take on vampires. Vampirism is no longer a secret in this world and Holly Black describes it as a disease where humans turn “cold” after they’ve been bitten and either drink human blood and turn into vampires or lock themselves up for 88 days to get the vampire venom out of their system and recover.
Due to the fact that this “disease” spreads, so called “Coldtowns” were created where vampires and humans live together in and endless bloody party. Vampires don’t kill all of the humans so they have longer someone to feed on. In an age of internet and reality TV, Coldtowns get an huge amount of attention, showing the fun, thrilling and glamorous live of vampires. So some people develop the thought of longing for becoming immortal and sign up for Coldtown by choice. Once you’re in you can hardly ever leave.
The story follows Tana, a teenage girl who wakes up in a bathroom after a party and discovers that everyone else is dead and the place is covered in blood. The only other survivors are her ex-boyfriend Aidan who she found chained up in a bedroom besides the vampire Gavriel who is held captured.
The killers are still in the house so Tana has to escape and takes her ex-boyfriend as well as the vampire, which seems to be trying to help, with her. Together they set off to Coldtown.
I really liked the book because it turns back to the image on vampires in the old days. Dark, mysterious, blood thirsty, merciless, scary but sexy like in Bram Stockers “Dracula” or “The Vampire Chronicals” by Anne Rice.
I also enjoyed the style of writing a lot. It was easy to read, a bit dark and dramatic but also funny and it gets off to a fast start. The switches between “now” and “then” were great as well because you get an even better view on the story and be able to discover Gavriels dark secrets.
Holly Black created three amazing main characters:
Tana, who is absolutely kick-ass and no girl who need a guy for protecting all the time.
Adrian, who seems kind of annoying but also has a very sweet side
And Gavriel, who I kind of liked best because he reminds me a lot of Anna Rices character Louis de Pointe du Lac. The nice and caring boy on one side but dark and twisted on the other.
And, guys, I can reassure you, even though the protagonists are one girl and two boys there is in no way a love-triangle involved ;)

I’d recommend this book to all the fans of vampire, thrilling or kind of disturbing books out there.

I'd rate this book 4/5 stars!

Lots of love
